Fatwa

A channel for submitting questions to qualified muftis

A fatwa is the considered opinion of a qualified mufti in answer to a question of Islamic law. It depends on the questioner’s specific circumstances and details. This page does not issue fatwas - it is solely a structured channel for submitting your question to the academy’s qualified muftis.

Qur’an

فَاسْأَلُوا أَهْلَ الذِّكْرِ إِن كُنتُمْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَ

So ask the people of knowledge if you do not know.
— Surah An-Nahl, 16:43
Hadith

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:

إِنَّ الْعُلَمَاءَ وَرَثَةُ الأَنْبِيَاءِ

Indeed, the scholars are the heirs of the prophets.
— Sunan Abu Dawud: 3641 - graded sahih by Shaykh al-Albani; Jami‘ at-Tirmidhi: 2682

Insights and practical principles

1

State the question clearly

Describe the actual situation, its context and the relevant details - an unclear question cannot receive an accurate answer.

2

One matter per question

Asking several unrelated matters at once delays and complicates the answer.

3

Confidentiality in personal matters

For family or sensitive matters it is better to contact us directly by telephone.

4

Understand the scope of the answer

Any answer given is based on the situation you describe; if the circumstances differ, the ruling may differ too.
